French fashion house's 'first connected fragrance'

French fashion house's 'first connected fragrance'

2022-01-14
Paco Rabanne's latest fragrance, Phantom, worked closely with VPI to develop a refillable spray cap shaped like a robotic head that connects consumers to a unique digital space via NFC technology.
NFC microchip in fragrance bottle
The caps combine a metallic look with the assembly of an NFC (Near Field Communication) microchip in a three-piece robotic head that holds 100ml and 150ml bottles, respectively. Scanning a bag with a smartphone allows consumers to discover digital spaces created just for them, including games, playlists and augmented reality features.
It's the French fashion brand's "first connected fragrance" that allows buyers to "connect to a phantom world of interactive games and other functions" via a chip. The fragrance is currently available at airport duty-free shops and other travel retail outlets. The company plans to roll out a full retail offering soon.
